Griffiths Heating Boiler Care Plans – Terms and Conditions
1. Definitions
1.1 Policyholder – The individual named on the care plan agreement.
1.2 Boiler – The domestic central heating boiler located at the insured premises.
1.3 Breakdown – A sudden and unforeseen mechanical or electrical fault which results in the boiler ceasing to function correctly.
1.4 Emergency – A situation that poses a risk to health, safety, or property, such as a significant water leak or total loss of heating/hot water.
1.5 Insured Premises – The property listed in the care plan agreement.
2. Scope of Cover
2.1 The care plans cover:
- Genuine boiler breakdowns.
- Leaks or water escape directly from the boiler or connected pipework.
- Emergencies related to the heating system that render the property uninhabitable or unsafe.
2.2 The Bronze Plan includes:
- Annual boiler service & safety check.
- Flue gas analysis.
- Check operation of all internal boiler components.
- Gas leak test.
- Water quality test to ensure the system is not suffering from corrosion.
- Cleaning of all system filters if present.
- Check that all controls are set correctly to ensure that the boiler is running at maximum efficiency.
- Priority call-out in the event of a boiler breakdown.
Note: This plan does not include any parts or labour.
2.3 The Silver Plan includes all Bronze Plan features, plus:
- All parts and labour should your boiler break down.
- Unlimited call-outs.
- No excess.
Note: This plan includes all parts and labour inside the boiler casing except the main heat exchanger.
2.4 The Gold Plan includes all Silver Plan features, plus:
- Full system service and breakdown cover.
- Coverage for external components such as radiators, valves, and pipework.
- System balancing and efficiency checks.
3. Call-Outs and Fair Use Policy
3.1 Call-outs are unlimited within the policy period, subject to the fair use terms outlined below.
3.2 The care plans are intended to respond to genuine issues as defined in section 2.1. They do not cover:
- Minor or cosmetic issues that do not affect boiler functionality.
- Routine maintenance, servicing, or cleaning of the boiler beyond the annual service.
- Issues resulting from poor installation or pre-existing faults.
- Adjustments, bleeding radiators, topping up pressure, or relighting pilot lights where the user can reasonably perform these tasks.
3.3 Repeated or unreasonable use of the call-out service for non-qualifying matters may result in investigation. Continued misuse may lead to suspension or cancellation of the care plan.
4. Exclusions
This care plan does not cover:
- Boilers beyond the manufacturer’s recommended life expectancy.
- Commercial or industrial premises.
- Systems not meeting relevant gas safety regulations or maintained in poor condition.
- Costs arising from consequential damage to property or contents.
- Replacement of the main heat exchanger, as its failure indicates the boiler is beyond economic repair.
- Damage resulting from deliberate actions or neglect.
5. Policyholder Responsibilities
5.1 The policyholder must:
- Take reasonable steps to maintain the boiler in accordance with manufacturer recommendations.
- Report faults promptly and accurately.
- Allow reasonable access to the insured premises for repairs.
- Ensure that the system is not subjected to misuse or neglect.
6. General Conditions
6.1 This care plan is non-transferable.
6.2 All repairs must be carried out by authorised engineers appointed by Griffiths Heating.
6.3 Griffiths Heating reserves the right to decline cover for systems that are unsafe, obsolete, or beyond economic repair.
6.4 Care plan customers will receive a 10% discount on the price of a new boiler when replacement is necessary.
